Christmas Tree, New Teeth, and The Never Ending Ear Infection

The day after Thanksgiving, we climbed into the attic to get out the red and green bins, got on the roof to hang lights, and went to pick out our Christmas tree. This is what we always do the day after Thanksgiving, and it's one of my favorite days. 

That weekend, after weeks of torture, Alice's top two teeth finally came through!

The next Sunday, Alice got sick. Really scary, high fever wouldn't eat anything and didn't want to move sick. Doc said she has a really bad ear infection. We ended up going back to the doctor (and checking in with them on the phone every day that week), so Alice could get an antibiotic shot. He told me this would likely be the worst shot she ever gets. Joy. The next 24 hours were really sucky, but Thursday afternoon she started to perk up, hadn't had a fever since Tuesday evening, and she even ate a whole 6 oz. bottle that night. Friday morning she ate another full bottle, and seemed to have a great day (even though she did go to bed at 6:30am and sleep until 9:00am- yes, I did check to make sure she was still breathing around 7am). And it's likely ear tubes are in our future, but Doc said it's too early to tell for sure. Ear infections can take 3 months to go away- they go away faster in the summer, but this time of a year a small cold can set one off, and so we're down the rabbit hole once again.

So that's that. I've had my hands very full, literally speaking, lately. Hopefully next week we're back to the "regular" holiday hustle and bustle (whatever that means).
