5 Months Old!

This past month was so much fun. Full of smiles, cute baby laughs, and razor sharp nails. And I'm pretty sure the week she turned 5 months was the biggest developmental week yet. It's just crazy to watch this kid grow. And can someone please clip her nails for me? Ouch.

Length and Weight: Huge, mainly really long, with big feet

Clothes Size: sometimes 9 months (although those are getting short) and some things in 12 months already (all swim wear is 12+).

Food: Sweet potatoes, 4 times

Tricks and Likes: Major eye contact, sometimes it's a little creepy. Turning at every noise and smiling whenever you see our faces. Scooting to get to your toys, and then pushing the buttons to get your toys to make sounds. Almost sitting up (although I suppose you could almost be sitting up for a while!). Rolling- you have, just this past week, figured out how to roll wherever you want to go. Danger alert. Oh, and putting everything in your mouth. You want to reach out and grab everything you can reach, and then immediately put it in your mouth. We also started using your jumperoo, which you really seem to enjoy. Exercise! You also have some favorite toys: Sophie (thanks Andrew), this butterfly crinkly thing (thanks Parker) and this purple elephant soft thing I let you use for naps because you like to rub it on your cheek and cover your eyes with it (thanks Charlotte). Other than those, anything you can push that makes noise and you are game. Koozies are also great entertainment. As are your feet.

Imagine these next photos are a video...

Sleep: You now sleep on your stomach, and wake up on the opposite side of the crib. Bed time is around 8ish and you *usually* wake up between 6 and 7. We read to you after your bath every night- a few new books a night and then we end with Snuggle Puppy and Pajama Time. I love those books. And you are no longer a great napper. On vacation, you napped for maybe 6 hours the entire week we were gone. But you didn't get fussy- you just wanted to be where the action was. So you took several 10 minute naps instead of the lengthier ones. Even at school, some days we're lucky if you get in 1.5 hours of napping total. But again, they say you are happy as can be. We'll deal with the long term effects of infant sleep deprivation at a later date.

Travel: First trip to the beach! More to come in a dedicated post. But to sum it up, awesome.

Parent's Sanity: Not too bad! I've enjoyed some girls time, survived my first "late night too much to drink" happy hour, and Zack quit Springbox! I don't think I had any Alice induced panic attacks this month, so thanks for that.

Let's see- school is going well, they love you there and you seem to be really happy. You love other kids. Maybe not love, but you are certainly fascinated with them. So much so that your teachers told us you are way more interested in interacting and watching other babies than most. Probably you get that from your dad. Other than that you are just a normal, adorable, happy and chill baby. We love you to the most outer cosmos and back! Yay for 5 months of Alice.
